The majority of land is classified as Grade 3b Land on the Agricultural Land Classification Series. The land is currently down to permanent pasture and benefits from good road frontage against its northern and southern boundaries.
The land is identified as Ston Easton and Denchworth Soil series as defined in the Soil Survey of England and Wales.
The Ston Easton soil series is well-drained, fine silty over clayey soils on limestone. Some shallow calcareous soils. The Ston Easton series is suitable for dairying and cereals; with more cereals in drier coastal districts of Glamorgan.
The Denchworth Soil Series is a slowly permeable seasonally waterlogged clayey soil with similar fine loam over clay soil. Some fine loamy over clayey soils with only slight seasonal waterlogging and some slowly permeable calcareous clayey soils. The Denchworth Soil series is suitable for winter cereals and short term grassland in drier lowland; dairying on permanent grassland in moist districts.
