LOCALITY
Prestwick is a town located in South Ayrshire on the south west coast ofScotland, approximately 30 miles (48 km) to the south-west of Glasgow. Itadjoins the larger town of Ayr. The centre of which is approximately 2 miles (3km) south.

The town is renowned for being the home of Open Golf. The world's first Opengolf Championship was played at the Prestwick Old Course in 1860 and the firsttwelve Open Championships were played there until 1872 (the Championship wasnot played in 1871). The town also hosts two other golf courses, St. Nicholasand St. Cuthbert's. St. Nicholas is a traditional links course on the southernhalf of the town

The Ayrshire coast is famous worldwide for golf with championship courses atRoyal Troon, Turnberry (the venue for the Scottish open in 2009), all of whichare within easy reach.
