There is no mystery behind the inspiration to this superb home's name.

Description - Sitting elevated in its own extensive gardens and with its own rocky (granite) outcrop, or 'tor', High Torr is a simply outstanding example of the magic that rural, countryside properties can offer.
Formerly 3 farm-workers' cottages, High Torr was converted in the 1960s to create this magnificent homestead, showcasing a wealth of period features and history that in some parts dates back to the early 1800s.

Downstairs offers 3 reception rooms each dominated by the stunning south-facing views. The farmhouse style kitchen overlooks the rear garden and there is space for breakfast table beside the warmth of the Aga. With space for integrated appliances, a range of base level units and two pantries, there is plenty of scope to whip up some culinary delights and share time with family and friends.
A very generous utility room, gives access to outside but also acts as a thoroughfare to the multi-purpose studio annexe with its ensuite facilities and additional external access.

An impressive 'split' stairwell, adorned in bookcases, invites you upstairs where there are 4 bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms boast built-in wardrobes and all enjoy south-facing views. One of the main bedrooms enjoys a further dressing room with integral storage which could lend itself to an additional ensuite, subject to relevant consents. Two well-appointed bathrooms complete the upstairs accommodation.

All over the house are nods to this home's past, with exposed beams, ornamental fireplaces and working open-fires, deep-sill windows and panel doors. The quirkiness continues outside with the hamlet's letter-box encased in the wall, for which there is public right of access (this does not affect any other part of the property).
Outside, the 360 degree landscape utterly captivates you. Just imagine, taking a break on a lazy Sunday afternoon, to rest against your very own tor and absorb the striking, panoramic views across Dartmoor National Park and even as far as the pretty estuary at Mothecombe. Combining terraces, lawns, mature shrubbery and an orchard, there are many beautiful spots from which to enjoy, unwind and relax in this highly private oasis of nature; a very mindful feast for the senses.
A driveway and double garage with light and power connected, provides ample parking for several vehicles.

Drenched in character, with an abundance of storage as well as a superb studio annexe, this home provides perfect flexibility for multi-generational living or those needing additional space for hobbies or working from home. Viewings are highly recommended.

Situation & Amenities - Cornwood sits in open countryside on the edge of Dartmoor, yet only four miles from the greater facilities of Ivybridge and eight miles from the Waterfront City of Plymouth. The main part of the village sits above the River Yealm valley and was once part of an important trading route which carried tin, wool and cattle between Tavistock and Totnes giving it a rich South Hams history.

High Torr is within walking distance of the village which has a population of around a thousand people and a strong community spirit.
The Cornwood Inn is community-owned serving food and drinks and acts as a focal point for activities that bring people together. It is a hub for outdoor activities, such as walking or cycling, with somewhere to store your equipment and meet up before setting out or a warm welcome on your return. Cornwood also hosts a weekly, visiting post-office. Alongside the ever popular and successful Cornwood Cricket Club, the village is also home to the church of St Michael and All Angels. The Church of England Primary School (with a pre-school on the same site) feeds into Ivybridge Community College with its World Class Quality Mark Award and fantastic sport facilities. Further community facilities such as Health Centres, Dentists, Libraries, Supermarkets, Leisure Facilities and Transport Links can be found in nearby Ivybridge and Plymouth beyond.
