LOCATION

Ringmore is an old smuggling village situated at the head of a beautiful valley off the south-west coast path with picturesque views over National Trust land to Bigbury Bay and Ayrmer Cove. The cove is about 15 to 20 minutes' walking distance from the village with its secluded beach and stunning cliff-top walks.

In the thriving village itself is an award-winning 13th-Century pub The Journey's End Inn, local church and a wide range of community clubs and societies. At St Ann's Chapel there is a Post Office and well-stocked general store which offers a delivery service to the church. Five miles away is the Georgian town of Modbury, and the towns of Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Totnes are nearby. The city of Plymouth is 17 miles to the north west.

The village is well-served for schools with twice-daily school buses to Ivybridge, Kingsbridge, Modbury and Aveton Gifford, and local buses to Stover School and Plymouth's private schools. Nearby Bigbury-on-Sea has a large, popular surfing beach with classes and a children's surf club provided by Discovery Surf School, as well as trips in the famed 'sea tractor' to Burgh Island with its Art Deco hotel and The Pilchard Inn. Salcombe and Newton Ferrers provide wonderful sailing and there are golf courses at Bigbury and Thurlestone.
