An extended and well-maintained two bedroom terrace cottage for sale in the sought-after area of Leytonstone. With two reception rooms and a kitchen-diner, there’s excellent accommodation for family living and entertaining. The property is also well-located for local amenities, outstanding schools and excellent commuter links.
Located on a quiet no-through road lined with mature trees, the small front garden leads to an open porch and on into the hallway, with beautiful dark timber floors that flow into the first reception room. The first reception is at the front of the property, and has retained its lovely original coving and trim. Alcoves to either side of the chimney breast are the perfect location for bookcases or storage. At the end of the hall, the kitchen-diner has a good range of cabinets and work-surfaces, as well as space for free-standing appliances. The dining area has space for a large table and there’s useful built-in storage. To the rear of the property, an extension houses the second reception room. There’s a fully glazed roof, with patio doors and additional windows looking out to the south facing garden. Slate-effect floor tiles complement the soft tone wall colour to provide a wonderful living space, maximising the sunlight with its south facing orientation. The rear garden has a paved terrace extending out to a low-maintenance gravelled patio surrounded by mature shrubs - the perfect spot for sunny days. There’s also a well-maintained timber shed. On the first floor are two double bedrooms and the large family bathroom, accessed via bedroom two. The bathroom has a large, deep tub with glazed screen and shower above. There’s also a beautifully fitted vanity unit with inset basin, integrated cistern, WC and additional storage. Beech timber-effect flooring and light stone effect mosaic tiles work well with tangerine walls to deliver a stylish and functional space. Bedroom two is a good-sized double overlooking the rear garden and includes dark timber flooring, a feature forest green wall and built-in storage. Bedroom one is a large double at the front of the property with twin windows and a full wall of built-in wardrobes. Simple white walls and light timber flooring provide a contemporary feel. Leytonstone is a lively community with every amenity imaginable on your doorstep. The area is well served by public transport, including Leytonstone Central Line underground station which is around ten minutes on foot and Leytonstone High Road overground station which is a mere two-minute stroll. There are good schools close by, including the outstanding rated Davies Lane Primary. Leytonstone High Road which is moments away is well known for its many shops, hospitality businesses and other amenities. Highlights of local hospitality options include the Red lion gastro pub, Stone mini market, and the highly commended “Back-to-Ours”. Leytonstone Leisure Centre, with its gym, swimming pool and fitness classes is five minutes away and the Leyton Mills Retail Park is close-by with a large supermarket and other retail outlets. Hackney Marshes, Wanstead Flats and Walthamstow Wetlands nature reserve are also within easy reach.
Here is what the seller has to sayI have lived here with my partner for 24 years. It has always been a quiet road even though it is just around the corner for a popular high street and just yards from a railway station. The neighbours themselves are also quiet but friendly and helpful. Overall very nice.
The major benefit of living here are the transport links and a still very busy high street. The overground tube and numerous buses are literally either at the end of the road or just a 10 mins walk away. Similary located is a truly diverse range of pubs, restaurants cafes, takeaways and independent shops as well as 4 or 5 supermarkets. Walking and outdoor space. Acres of grass, trees, water and wildlife on Wanstead flats and Hollow ponds. We are moving having retired recently and moving to the coast of my native Donegal. We have a place to stay in Ireland so we are consequently chain free.
