Location
Bridstow is a small village, around two miles from Ross-on-Wye's town centre. This offers an assortment of shops, independently-owned boutiques, a range of restaurants, welcoming pubs, various leisure facilities, plus a network of countryside and riverside walks.
The village has a lovely community; it contains a village hall - which acts as a headquarters for various groups such as the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and the WI, and various activities are also staged there, such as barn dances and whist evenings. There is also a primary school that carries a 'Good' Ofsted rating and this venue is used as a rehearsal space for a local women's choir, the Border Belles. In terms of secondary education, Ross offers John Kyrle High School. It is worth noting that private schooling options are found in the nearby towns of Hereford and Monmouth.
Hill Cottage is set just off a quiet country lane, but is a short drive (approximately half a mile) from the A49, the main road that connects Ross-on-Wye with Hereford. At Ross-on-Wye, motorists can join the A40, as well as the M50.

The home at a glance
Hill Cottage was originally constructed as two separate dwellings in the 18th century but the property has since been converted into one, spacious three-bedroom home. While the cottage has been modernised, it still retains much of the original character, most notably in the main lounge; there are exposed beams, timber frames around the staircase and an old bread oven built into the side of the stone fireplace, which presently houses a wood-burning stove.
The main lounge is the largest of three reception rooms, another is the garden room/conservatory which boasts fantastic views, not only of the attractive garden, but also of the boundless countryside, the nearby town of Ross-on-Wye, Chase Wood - an Iron Age hillfort - and May Hill, a local landmark distinguishable from a crowning clump of trees on its summit.
The third reception room is a dual-aspect space which is presently used as a substantial study, but has in previous years served as a dining room as there is an open archway linking it with the beautifully bright and well-appointed kitchen which features a fan oven, ceramic hob and integrated under-counter fridge.
On this level of the property, there is also a shower room and a utility room.
Upstairs, there are three double bedrooms. Of these, the largest is tremendously bright and carries a box bay window, which lets natural light cascade in and frames the wonderful country views magnificently. The space also has a wealth of built-in storage along with its own dressing room - complete with three built-in wardrobes - and private access into the family bathroom - which can also be accessed from the landing. This has a bath, a vanity unit and a WC.

Outside, there are two levels to the rear garden; the lower area has sloped flower beds and a patio seating area, whereas the top, more level section has a greenhouse and verdant lawn, a variety of mature trees and two newly-planted fruit trees - an apple and a Victoria plum. There are also a series of compost bins in the far corner.
The front garden includes a lawn bordered by shrubs and flowers with more mature trees beautifying the surroundings further.
In terms of parking, an expansive driveway plus a detached double garage offers plenty of space for several vehicles.
