DESCRIPTION 1 Manor Cottage is a very pretty semi-detached period cottage quietly positioned within the idyllic hamlet of Norton and within walking distance to the well-regard Vine Tree pub. Built in 1917 as a farm workers cottage belonging to the Norton Manor Estate, the cottage is constructed on natural Cotswold stone elevations under a clay tiled roof with leaded light windows and has a charming country cottage feel surrounded by delightful gardens.
The cosy accommodation is arranged over two floors extending in all to 778 sq.ft. with the ground floor comprising a living room with parquet flooring and traditional fireplace, and a recently refitted kitchen with built in slimline dishwasher, and both a pantry and store room off. On the first floor are two good sized bedrooms and a bathroom with shower over bath and built in storage.
The property is accessed by steps up to a pedestrian side gate with both a front and rear garden. The rear garden has a lawn and stone store, whilst the main garden is of generous size laid mostly to lawn with shrub borders and adjoins the walled garden to Norton Manor with a charming path leading to the Church. Convenient off street parking is available opposite the cottage for 2/3 cars.
SITUATION The property is located within the charming rural hamlet of Norton situated just 4 miles from the market town of Malmesbury and 3 miles from the popular village of Sherston with the renowned Vine Tree public house within easy walking distance. Malmesbury is an ancient hilltop town situated on the southern edge of The Cotswolds. Traditionally a market town serving the rural area of North West Wiltshire, the town is reputed to be the oldest borough in England created by Charter in 880 AD by Alfred the Great. Today, the High Street has numerous independent shops, pubs and restaurants including a new Waitrose store and a regular weekly Farmer's market whilst the town has excellent choice of both primary and secondary schools and good recreational and leisure facilities. The M4 motorway (J17) to the south provides fast road access to the major employment centres of Bristol and Swindon together with London and the West Country. Main line rail services are available from Chippenham and Kemble (Paddington in about 75 minutes).
